About Lake Toya – Hokkaido

Captured at 3:41 am in the stillness before dawn, Lake Toya reveals its uninhabited volcanic islands bathed in soft, golden-violet light. Known for its calm waters and quiet beauty, this Hokkaido landmark is often photographed in the brightness of day,  but I sought to capture it in its most tranquil and fleeting state. Through a long exposure, the movement of clouds dissolves into smooth gradients, and the lake becomes a mirror-like expanse, amplifying the serenity of the scene. The result is a vision of pure stillness, inviting viewers to step into a moment that exists only in the earliest light of morning.

About the Icon series

Icon is a global series of panoramic photographs reimagining the world’s most celebrated landmarks through my distinctive vision. Each work distills scenes often alive with movement into moments of quiet grandeur, inviting the viewer into an immersive dialogue with place, light, and atmosphere.

Photographed with a medium format Hasselblad system, the series achieves exceptional depth, tonal richness, and fine detail qualities that elevate every print for large format presentation. Each limited edition of eight is signed, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, and produced to museum grade standards using archival pigment printing on fine art paper.
